The Seattle Majestics went to the playoffs under first year Head Coach Rodney McCurry June 6 down in Las Vegas.
The Majestics hold a 4-2 record after the regular season and have been driven by their offense.
Over their last three games of the season, the Majestics have scored an average of 31 points per game. Their offense is fifth in points per game this season, but lead the WNFC in total yards, yards per game and rush yards this season.
Seattle is the only team in the WNFC to average over 300 yards of offense per game. As a result, quarterback Paytience Kamuta is up for rookie and player of the year this season.
After back-to-back one win season, McCurry has turned the Majestics around. His ground and pound attack has put running back Jazmine Rambo third in the entire league for rush yards this season with 490 yards and is third in yards per attempt with 7.3.
With the success that the Majestics have had, McCurry is a finalist for coach of the year.
The Majestics have their work cut out for them in the first round of the playoffs. They taook on the Texas Elite Spartans, who won the 2023 WNFC championship. The Majestics fell to the Elite Spartans 21-14, capping off McCurry’s first campaign as the Majestics Head Coach.
The Elite Spartans defense lives up to the name. So far in their 2024 campaign, they haven’t allowed a team to score more than 15 points all season. It has been over two years since a team has scored 20 points against Texas. The last team to do that was the Alabama Fire on May 14, 2022, in a game the Elite Spartans won 21-20.
