You may or may not be surprised to find out that Seattle drivers are 36 percent more likely to get in an accident than the national average.
In Allstate Insurance’s new America’s Best Drivers report, the Emerald City jackknifed its way to a glorious 173 out of 200 ranking for safe driving—putting it horn-blaringly close to the bottom rung of American auto safety. On average, Seattleites go 7.4 years between accidents, about half the time the U.S.A.’s best drivers in Fort Collins go (14.2 years). Also, it appears we’ve dropped 13 rankings since last year’s report, so apparently our skills at driving are getting worse over time too. Boise, on the other hand, is kicking our automotive asses, ranking in as the third best drivers in the country.
Good news though—we are slightly more responsible than our NW neighbors in Portland, who ranked a 177 out of 200. I thought they all rode unicycles down there?
