But in interviews, you sometimes got the impression that he wasn’t so much running because he wanted to serve in government as he was to increase his chances of getting the West Seattle Bridge named after his mom, who died almost exactly one year ago. She served on the council from 1970 until Cheryl Chow unseated her in 1989. According to an obituary in the Seattle Times helped created Magnuson Park and the very bridge her son thought should have her name on it.Today, Williams announced that one week from tomorrow, the bridge will officially become the Jeanette Williams Memorial Bridge.
