With one pot shop for every 4,850 people who live here, Seattle finished third in a ridiculous rating of the 10 “highest” cities in America – so put that in your pipe and smoke it. Denver, of course, the Mile High City, took first place honors, followed by Colorado Springs, home to the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Rodeo Hall of Fame.
San Bernardino, California, was fourth, which is something of a surprise, because, trust me, the only way to live – even marginally happy – in this rattlesnake infested desert town is to stay higher than a goddamn kite 365 days a year. (Click here for the full list.)
This invaluable information comes courtesy Movoto Real Estate, a San Mateo, Calif.-based firm, whose slavish thirst for attention has led them to examine such topics as the nerdiest city in the country, the worst dressed, and so on.
Here’s how Movoto summarized:
“No huge surprises here. Colorado is, of course, the current king of kush. Washington is coming up fast, though, thanks to its passing of Initiative 502, which is similar to Colorado’s new law. Legal pot sales won’t actually start there for a few more months, though. The real question we had was why exactly San Bernardino outranked the likes of San Francisco and Los Angeles when it comes to baking (and we don’t mean the kind you see on “Cake Boss”).”
Very cute.
In their preciously clever-as-hell press release, Motovo goes on to inform us as to “how we are rolling this ranking,” which included such sure-fired criteria as the number of marijuana dispensaries and head shops per capita, dope-related events and festivals, and of course, whether or not recreational use of Mary Jane is legal in the state.
