Wednesday night at approximately 9:30 p.m. Seattle police say a man riding a Triumph motorcycle travelling northbound on the Alaskan Way Viaduct lost control and hit a guard rail, causing him to be “ejected” from the bike and fall to Railroad Avenue below. The accident proved fatal; according to police the man was pronounced dead at the scene and “speed may have been a factor.”

Seattle Police Detective Renee Witt could provide no estimate of how far the man fell.

According to the SPD Blotter blog, an investigation into the fatal accident is active and ongoing.
