View Larger MapSeattle police have caught a break in their investigation into the murder of Andrew Ray Johnson, the 24-year-old South Seattle man who was found shot dead last week near Rainier Beach. As previously noted by Seattle Crime, Johnson had a memorable run-in with police back in February after his neighbors reported him running down the street chopping at telephone poles with a machete as he went.According to the SPD blotter, Seattle police now suspect that 23-year-old Isaiah Harris-Nelson shot Johnson after the older man tried to pull him out of the window of a car. On the night of the murder, Harris-Nelson was sitting in the passenger seat of a stationary car along with three others when Johnson appeared and allegedly attacked the driver. After speeding off, the driver returned to the same spot to drop his two female passengers. When Johnson “emerged” again, he allegedly began attacking Harris-Nelson. According to police, Harris-Nelson later admitted to investigators that he pulled out a gun and fired three times. Johnson was found with bullet wounds to the head and chest and pronounced dead at the scene.Harris-Nelson was arrested at his Beacon Hill home yesterday and now sits in King County Jail awaiting charges.
