The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act might as well have been written specifically for John C. Kroack. The law bars people from using “force, the threat of force, or physical obstruction to prevent individuals from obtaining or providing reproductive health care services.” That sounds like exactly what Kroack was doing when he allegedly tried to force his way into a Lynnwood abortion clinic exam room, then started pounding on the door and ranting and raving about “baby killers!” and “going to hell!”Of course, it doesn’t help that when police arrived they also found a machete, camouflage, nets, cords, and tools in his car.The P-I
reported Sunday night that a complaint was filed Friday by U.S. Attorney Michael Diaz in a U.S. District Court in Seattle.Kroack, Diaz told the court, “used force and physically obstructed the entrance to a reproductive health services facility with the intent to injure, intimidate and interfere with persons seeking and providing reproductive health services.”The incident happened Jan. 7, 2010. Kroack supposedly was seen sneaking around in the woods outside the health center. Later he came inside and started a conversation about abortion with an employee–something he’d done two days earlier at the clinic as well. Soon, however, prosecutors say he got angry and then tried to force his way into the exam room. And while a nurse tried to hold it shut, Kroack slammed his body into the door, yelling “You baby killers! and “You are all going to hell for being murderers!”The nurses who weren’t trying to keep the madman out had sequestered themselves in a “safe room” elsewhere in the building and operations in the clinic (most of which have nothing to do with abortions) ground to a halt.Police eventually arrived and found Kroack still pounding on the door. They later found the giant knife and army-guy supplies in his car.The federal prosecutor is asking that Kroack be banned from the medical center for life and pay a $10,000 fine. Meanwhile, in the other Washington, Rep. Peter King is still having hearings about Islamic radicalization in America.Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
