Ted Bradford, outside Yakima jailTed Bradford, whose claims of a wrongful rape conviction were detailed in a 2008 Seattle Weekly cover story , has indeed been found not guilty of the crime. Though the Yakima man confessed (in response to questionable police tactics) and served nine years in prison, he was freed after the Innocence Project Northwest at the University of Washington uncovered DNA evidence that pointed to another suspect. Yakima prosecutors chose to retry him, despite police errors in the case. Prosecutors continued to insist he was their man even after a jury yesterday took just hours to decide otherwise. “We’re obviously thrilled,” Seattle defense attorney Felix Luna told the Yakima Herald-Republic. “We believed in Ted’s innocence all along.” DNA evidence points directly to another man, said Luna, who “needs to answer some serious questions for the police.”
