Seattle will make Major League Baseball history Sunday, when the rainbow Pride flag will fly at Safeco Field as the Mariners take on the Chicago Cubs.

The Mariners will become the first MLB team to publicly raise the Pride flag for equal rights during a game, Fox Q13 reports. Simultaneously, the 39th annual Seattle Pride Parade will take place outside on the streets of downtown.

The parade is put on by Seattle Out and Proud, a non-profit organization whose goal is to inform and educate residents of the city on LGBT issues through a variety of events. The two-and-a-half hour long ritual will commence at 11 a.m. near Fourth Avenue and Union Street and will be celebrating “Equality: Passed, Present, & Future.”

Sunday’s festivities will take place about two months after NBA free agent Jason Collins became the first male American professional athlete to come out as gay before the end of his career.
