Seattle Police released the above video earlier today, warning that it could be “disturbing to watch.” So naturally we watched it. More than anything, what we saw were some fast-acting cops.
According to the SPD YouTube description:
The incident happened on Tuesday, July 8, after several officers responded to reports of a suicidal man on the overpass. Officers found the man and started talking to him. During the conversation, he suddenly jumped over the railing. An officer reflexively reached out and caught the man, hauling him to safety. Officers are not trained to do this due to the inherent risk of being injured themselves.
The man was referred to a local hospital for assessment. His identity and other details of this incident will not be released in order to protect his privacy
