A 28-year-old Seattle man has been arrested and charged with 12 counts of first-degree robbery for his alleged involvement in robberies that took place all over King County.

In addition to a dozen robbery charges, Yoonis Idris was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree after the U.S. Marshal’s Service and local authorities executed a warrant search at a Motel 6 in SeaTac around Dec. 30, 2021, where Yoonis was believed to be staying.

In Yoonis’ motel room, police found a jacket and balaclava mask that appeared to match what the suspect was photographed as wearing during the robberies. Law enforcement also found a handgun that had its serial number scratched off.

Authorities say they used Snapchat locational data to link Yoonis’ location to the sites of several robberies at the time they occurred. This evidence, along with photographic evidence, links Yoonis to bank and smoke shop robberies in Seattle, Shoreline, Bellevue, Des Moines, Federal Way and Burien.

Police say Yoonis confessed to 12 robberies at the time of his arrest.

The King County Prosecutor’s Office requested the defendant be held on $500,000 bail and a judge agreed. He remains in custody, and his arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in Superior Court.
