Last Friday’s Marysville-Pilchuck school shooting is still fresh in the minds of people in the Seattle area. Over the weekend, the tragedy reinvigorated the debate over the “copycat crime” phenomenon that seems to occur after such incidents.
Well, it’s not even noon yet on a Monday, and there has already been two seperate incidents of threatened school violence in the area.
The first happened at Seattle Center School near the Space Needle after a 16-year-old student brought a molotov cocktail to campus. Thanks to a tip from a fellow student, police were able to evacuate the school around 9:20 a.m. and take the suspect into custody before any harm was done.
About an hour and a half later, Green River Community College in Auburn was sent into lockdown after “a student made a veiled threat to a faculty member” that suggested a potential shooting would occur. The student, who was spotted in the parking lot, apparently walked off campus after a heavy police presence descended on the school. Students received text alerts from the school alerting them of the situation
