Jake Lynch, an Aussie who’s called Seattle home for the past seven months, has an interesting column over on Crosscut. I love hearing what foreigners have to say about us, especially those, like Lynch, who can understand that just because we have a moron in charge of the country, doesn’t mean we all follow suit. That being said, Lynch’s analogy of American capitalism as a “be quick or be dead” Thai border town is probably a little over the top, but he is astute in his observation that we really dig money. And, a note to Lynch: the services are out there – the safety nets as you call them – but they can be tough to find. Live here a little longer and I’m hoping you’ll see that. But if you don’t, I understand. When it comes to taking care of us, you’re right. Our federal government isn’t exactly tip top. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some hash to sell.
