It’s looking more and more like the Seahawks’ prized acquisition of the offseason will have to wait until next year to make an impact on the field.

Sidelined for all of this year with a bum hip – aside from one game in November against his former team – in his weekly radio appearance this morning Seahawks coach Pete Carroll strongly suggested that Percy Harvin will head to the IR later this week, officially ending his season and any hope that the $67 million-man ($25.5 million gauranteed) will return for the playoff run.

The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta breaks it down:

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, in his regular Monday appearance on 710 ESPN Seattle, the team’s flagship radio station, said receiver Percy Harvin is likely to go on Injured Reserve sometime this week.

That is no surprise as Carroll said last week that that could happen soon. It didn’t last week, leading to some thought that maybe they were waiting to see if Harvin could make it back for the playoffs.

But Carroll today said that Harvin would “need the off-season to get back to full speed” clearly indicating he won’t make it back this season, and then saying there could be a roster move coming later this week.

Coincentally, I saw this sweet t-shirt (pictured) at Fred Meyer over the weekend. I believe they’re still asking full price for it.

UPDATE: Pete Carroll now says Harvin will practice this week with hopes of playing in the playoffs.
