It’s hot out there. But that doesn’t mean you should take all your clothes off, and it certainly doesn’t mean you should crawl into a house through a window and ask to “crash.”
But according to Seattle police, that’s exactly what happened just after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning when a man was arrested after authorities received a call from the 5000 Block of 8th Avenue NE.
According to the Blotter blog:
Just after 1:00 this morning, officers responded to a call in the 5000 Block of 8th Avenue NE of a nude male who had climbed through a first floor window. Once inside he asked the occupants for a woman who did not live at that address. He then asked if he could “crash” at the house. The stunned occupants told him no, he could not. The suspect then went back out the window.
Officers responded and set up containment. A K9 team responded and began their track. Unfortunately, the track ended after about a block. Just as the K9 officer was about to call off the track, an officer on containment saw a man wearing jeans and no shirt riding a bike in the area of the search. The officer turned his patrol car around to investigate further and the bike-riding suspect took off. The suspect dumped his bike and fled on foot.
The K9 team responded to the new location and containment was adjusted. The K9 team began searching the yards in the 700 Block of NE 53rd. After a very thorough search, the suspect was spotted hiding on the roof of one of the houses in that block. A Seattle Fire Department ladder truck responded and assisted with removing the suspect safely from the roof. The original victim positively identified the suspect in custody as the naked guy.
Shocking as it may seem, police say “drugs may have been a factor in this case.” The suspect was taken to the hospital for an evaluation, and once he’s released authorities say he’ll be booked into King County Jail.
