It’s almost lunchtime, which means you’re probably thinking about food that sounds fit for consumption right about now.
One thing that’s probably not on that list: the world’s largest chicken nugget.
Oh, but such a revolting creation does exists. It’s in Secaucus, New Jersey, in fact (of course it is), proudly on display at the Meadowlands Exposition Center as part of the Kosherfest trade show. NJ.com has pictures of the breaded beast (of course it does).
Here’s the pertinent stats: the chicken nugget is the work of Empire Kosher Poultry, “weighing 51.1 pounds and measuring 3.25 feet long and two feet wide,” according to NJ.com. Guinness World Records has validated the nugget as the largest in the world. NJ.com reports that the nugget is being used to celebrate Empire Kosher’s 75th anniversary and to launch the company’s “improved” chicken nuggets – which will presumably be regular size. The website also reports that the nugget took six people over three hours to make and cook, and has over 2.5 pounds of breading. It’s apparently the size of 720 regular-sized nuggets put together.
Mmmmmm.
