Generally, nothing good has ever come from ordering a woman over the InternetTracy Floren was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment yesterday for the murder of his wife, Nancy. A jury found him guilty last month. Evidence indicated that just weeks before the former Boeing staffer’s wife was found shot dead in their Kent home, he began trolling the Internet for a replacement in the form of a mail order bride. And for that he earned a sharp rebuke from the presiding judge. “”This was a true case of coldblooded murder,” said King County judge Harry McCarthy. “The defendant made the decision, at some point, that he could not pursue his own interest if Nancy Floren continued to live.”There were other indicators of Floren’s guilt. Back in September 2007, the Times
reports that an apparently unconcerned Floren lied to police about what time he arrived at a meeting for recovering substance abusers the morning his wife’s body was discovered. Investigators were also able to identify Floren’s DNA on a pair of earplugs found near the scene. According to police, the couple’s home was staged to look like a robbery. Floren, as you’ve probably already guessed, did not do so well at selling the ruse. Now the 64-year-old will serve what is essentially a life sentence in a state facility that in all likelihood does not allow inmates access to the Internet, though as HBO documentaries have long taught us, that does not preclude the possibility of him finding a new wife.
