Front Seat, a “civic software” company based in Seattle, has released its list of top 10 Most Walkable U.S. cities, along with the Most Walkable neighborhoods within them. Front Seat’s hometown gets a 76 on the Walk Score, which puts us at #7 overall. (Damn you, Philadelphia.)According to the company, “the Walk Score algorithm works by identifying the closest grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops and other amenities near a given address.” Which makes it all the more bizarre that Pioneer Square is Seattle’s top walkable neighborhood, with an impressive score of 99. “Amenities” must include drug availability. It certainly doesn’t include public bathrooms.
