For months now, the conventional wisdom was that NBA Commissioner David Stern was all aboard as far as bringing the Sacramento Kings to Seattle. But things perhaps may have taken a dramatic turn. KING 5-TV is reporting this morning, based on multiple sources, that “a split has emerged between Stern and team owners over the fate of the Kings.”
According to the station, Stern is “quietly maneuvering behind the scenes to propel a Sacramento counter bid,” and is trying to line up investors to join a new Kings ownership group. All of this is happening, despite the fact that several NBA team owners last week signaled they preferred to move the franchise to Seattle.
