Between the Prime Air delivery drones and this, Amazon is turning Seattle into The Jetsons. And I’m totally okay with it.
Today the Department of Planning and Development approved Amazon’s plan to build their space-age three orb headquarters on 2101 7th Ave in the Denny Triangle.
The plans, which were announced in May, outline the structure as a greenhouse-style biodome capable of sustaining full grown trees and other various plant life. “The generative idea is that a plant-rich environment has many positive qualities that are not often found in a typical office setting,” the lengthy proposal document reads. “While the form of the building will be visually reminiscent of a greenhouse or conservatory, plant material will be selected for its ability to co-exist in a microclimate that also suits people.”
Who wouldn’t want to work in a geodesic city-forest? Here’s to a future Seattle cityscape full of epic, verdant bio-globes.
