According to Seattle Police a 7-year-old boy was abandoned at one of the three new Nickelsville homeless encampments last night.
As Seattle Police detective Renee Witt details on the SPD Blotter blog, authorities received a 911 call at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday night after an attendant at the South Jackson Street encampment apparently discovered that the boy’s mother had left him there. According to Witt: “Officers responded and found the child walking around the campsite. The child’s clothing was damp from being out in the rain.”
From the Blotter blog:
The child did not know where his mother was or when she would be back. Officers transported the child to the East Precinct. The child said he had not eaten since breakfast so officers took the child to McDonald’s while they waited for CPS to respond to take custody of the child.
