According to Seattle police, a 44-year-old man was arrested last night after a botched burglary in Ravenna. Authorities were called to the 2100 Block of NE 83rd Street shortly before 10 p.m. Monday night after a woman came home to discover “an unknown man standing in her bedroom, holding frozen food boxes in his hands.” Police say the man escaped out the back door while the homeowner screamed and then called 911.
It didn’t take long for police to find their man.
According to the SPD Blotter blog:
Officers arrived quickly and set up containment for a K-9 track. It appeared that the suspect had entered the house by breaking a window, cutting himself in the process. Officers discovered drops of blood throughout the residence.
As officers were searching for the suspect, a couple of officers heard some women screaming in the 2000 Block of NE 85th Street. The officers responded and were informed by the women that they had seen an unknown man looking into one of their apartment windows. The officers located the man hiding in the bushes. He was identified and positively identified as the burglary suspect. The suspect was arrested. A search of the suspect was conducted and several items such as credit cards, work identification and pill bottles all belonging to the burglary victim were located on the suspect, as well as several other small items. These items were photographed and returned to the victim.
SPD Detective Mark Jamieson says the suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary, and detectives will conduct the follow up investigation into the bizarre string of events.
