Xavier JacquesFrench DJ and hip-hop producer Jean-Christophe Le Saout, who is better known as Wax Tailor, is headed to Seattle on October 13th. I call him a producer but he’s really a hip-hop composer the way he blends in complex arrangements and live instruments into his songs — especially at his live shows. He’s not the type of DJ to simply pass through town with two turntables, a laptop, and some records. When he gets to Seattle, he’ll have a cello player, flautist, and MC on stage as well. In a weird twist, he’ll also have something called CD-Vinyl for sale. His latest disc, Say Yes, combines the two mediums as you can play it in your CD player or on your record player. There are grooves for the needle on top of the CD and it’s a cool concept. I’m curious about the sound quality of something like this and you can read more on the project over here. Want to try it out? We’ve actually got two copies of Say Yes to offer up to a lucky reader this week.Just email us with the words Wax Tailor in the subject line and a winner will be chosen at random. Good luck folks. Wax Tailor plays at Nectar on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and L.A.’s Abstract Rude is opening up.
