When Olympia, WA natives Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss combined their elemental powers of rock, the resulting tidal wave of awesome was known as “Sleater-Kinney.” But alas, that tidal wave has not flooded the Northwest in seven years now, since the trio disbanded to follow their own pursuits (i.e. motherhood, side projects, sketch comedy, drumgasms).
But over the weekend in Portland, fellow NW rock gods Pearl Jam brought a reunited Sleater-Kinney onstage at the Moda Center for a cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World,” and that old tidal wave of awesome came flooding back. Watch below as the two bands have the most fun ever:
