Today’s stash. My boyfriend and I just spent the last five hours soaking up Record Store Day. We hit up Sonic Boom in Ballard, Jive Time in Fremont (where everything was 25% off), and Easy Street in Queen Anne (where everything was 10% off). We got some amazing deals on Yeasayer’s limited edition 12″ for “O.N.E.,” two copies of Heart’s Dreamboat Annie (one for each of us), Edith Piaf, Donovan, Wanda de Sah with the Sergio Mendes Trio, George Benson, Curtis Mayfield, and lots more. Here’s our top three finds of the day:3. Nancy Sinatra’s Boots from 1966. Easy Street. $8.This Lee Hazlewood-produced LP has all of Nancy’s hits. The blurb on the back cover pretty much says it all: She looks good, dresses good, lives good, eats, drinks, loves, breathes, dances, sings, cries good. Five foot three and tiger eyes. A mouth made for lollipops and kisses, Stingers or melting smiles. Ninety five pounds of affection.2. T.Rex’s Tanx from 1973. Jive Time. $14.99.Original T.Rex LPs aren’t that easy to find, and Tanx is the last record the band made in its original lineup, before they got sick of Marc Bolan and started quitting. Plus the cover has Bolan in a feather boa crouching in front of a toy tank.1. Neko Case’s Middle Cyclone Exclusive Record Store Day Reissue, from 2010. Sonic Boom. $18.99.Anti released this limited-edition record in honor of the day, and it’s a must-have for any fan of Case – Middle Cyclone is a tremendous album, and this version’s artwork is beautiful. And the LP is clear!I love Record Store Day. I’m already sad it’s over.
