THEE Satisfaction performing at a SODO loft Saturday nightHouse party music showcases were happening all over the place this past weekend. While a lot of people came out for the Carousel Music fest which showcased scores of local bands in house venues around the city, a group of musicians gathered in a SODO loft Saturday night for a hip-hop show featuring the next wave of Seattle rappers. THEE Satisfaction didn’t headline but still stood out the most. And tit’s good to know that they continue to play shows even though they already had a fairwell gig last week. Hopefully they stick around for awhile because their rhymes were tight, they set a good groove, and nobody wanted them to get off the stage. The State of the Artists, AKA SOTA Boys, who we twitterviewed last Thursday, performed as well and showcased why they’re starting to garner a fan base.. The talented local MCs had a lot of energy and rapped at the top of their lungs in a way that made the entire show seem more punk rock than hip-hop. The trio were saying goodbye to Seattle as well as they leave to go on tour this week. Other folks that performed included Kung Fu Grip and Lisa Dank, both who have some work to do as artists but show promise if nothing else. It’s hard to get a read on what Dank is trying to do. Her music is part erotica, part electro, with vocals thrown in that don’t carry the songs as much as they could. It seems like there’s a touch of Lady Gaga in her mix, but her style is still a work in progress.
