The record release show for Ben Gibbard’s solo debut, Former Lives, at the Showbox at the Market on November 16 is, unsurprisingly, sold out. If you didn’t get tickets, fret not: There’s a way you can see Gibbard play an exclusive acoustic show and, at the same time, support an extremely worthwhile cause. Tomorrow night, Gibbard is playing an intimate set for an audience of less than 100 in the Chinese Room at the Smith Tower (the subject of his “Teardrop Windows” single). It’s a benefit for Music For Marriage Equality, the organization formed in support of the Washington United for Marriage campaign and Referendum 74. The Chinese Room show sold out in less than ten minutes, but there’s still a way in! Gibbard’s label Barsuk Records and Music For Marriage Equality are raffling off a final pair of tickets–all you’ve got to do is donate $10 or more M4ME. You’ll be entered in a drawing to win the tickets. All donations will go to the Washington United for Marriage campaign, and there’s no limit to entry. Great cause plus the chance to see a great show–it’s a classic two birds, one stone situation. Get to M4ME’s website by 6 p.m. tonight to donate and enter the raffle.
