The Oblivians, back in the proverbial dayThank-you, Henry Owings, for bestowing me with the obscenely good news that Greg Cartwright’s neo-soul punk outfit the Oblivians is reuniting for a few shows in 2009. Unfortunately for the west coast, the only dates in the works at this juncture are in Memphis and Detroit, with a couple of weeks in Europe. That said, I’ve been looking for an excuse to visit the south, and since  their friends in the Gories (one of the more revered of Mick Collins’ pre-Blacktop and Dirtbombs garage projects) are also reuniting and pairing up with them for the dates, I think it might be worth the trip.
