Slayer
preps new album and releases sick trailer for their forthcoming Playing With Dolls short, conceived by Metalocalpse director Mark Brooks.Russian Circles are set to release a phenomenal new record on Suicide Squeeze next week called Geneva. Sargent House (home to my beloved Red Fang) is also releasing it on limited-edition clear vinyl. Thanks in part to the work of bassist Brian Cook, who also plays bass and guitar in local band These Arms Are Snakes, this could end up being one of the best metal/post-metal releases of the year. Stream it over here and prepare to rejoice, particularly if you’re a fan of Slint, Pelican or Fugazi.Lita Ford has returned with her first album in 15 years and it’s doing pretty damn well, selling 2,600 copies in the first week of its stateside release. Perhaps debuting the album’s single, “Bed”, via fetish site Stockroom helped sales somewhat. You can stream an interview with Ford on Rockline over here. Finally, in Ivy League headbanging news, I give you the Princeton metal appreciation society, Headbangers Inc. “When it comes to hard rock appreciation, we kick Harvard’s ass.” Nice.
