Singer-songwriter Cass McCombs is currently touring behind the excellent Humor Risk, his second of two full-length records he’s released in 2011. The new record is more upbeat (and, in my opinion, better overall) than April’s WIT’S END, and tonight, McCombs hits the Tractor Tavern to play his new material. Here’s hoping the different tone of his more recent record translates into something other than “awkwardness and boredom” onstage. Tickets for the 9 p.m. show cost $12.
