Showbox hosted one of several Decibel Festival showcases last night, but its lineup was one of the best with a DJ set by local boys The Flavr Blue, Baths, and Tokimonsta rounding out the bill. While the DJ set was solid and had the crowd moving the entire time (in that non-committal way we Seattleites are famous for), attendance was pretty meager. That is, until Baths came on stage; their performance was fun to watch as they tossed the dials up and down on their extensive tech with the occasional sitdown at the piano or the strapping on of a guitar. However, the real treat of the night was Tokimonsta. While she didn’t do anything significantly strange or interesting, she’s mesmerizing at the boards. Smiling, dancing, putting together a great set, and a general adorability that makes it difficult to look away. All in all a great night at the Showbox.
