Seattle Times Sports Columnist Steve Kelley wrote about the Sonics’ new assistant coach, Paul Westhead, in his column on Saturday. When pointing out the difference in coaching styles between the new assistant and coach P.J. Clarlesimo, he referred to the latter’s game as “a waltz by Strauss,” and Westhead’s “is a guitar lick from Derek Trucks.”
I know nothing about Westhead’s coaching style, so I’m going to go ahead and assume the comment was a compliment. Trucks doesn’t have any dates scheduled at the moment. But, if you’re going to be in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve, he’ll be playing at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.
