For Tacoma’s Squeak and Squawk Music Festival, co-organizer Adam McKinney has planned “an extended five-day period of weirdness.” This year, the festival showcases approximately 30 different bands—mostly Tacoma-based, but also some regional and national groups. “Some of these acts, like Carletta Sue Kay,” says McKinney, “never really take tours up the Coast, while others are exciting up-and-comers that we can’t wait to share with everyone.” The Library at Sanford and Son Antiques, 744 Commerce St., 272-0334. He’s been a successful solo artist, half of Gnarls Barkley, and a judge on The Voice. His autobiography, Everybody’s Brother, comes out just in time for you to cram before the concert. His publicist stated, “As a result of a bad case of laryngitis and acute sinusitis, CeeLo Green has been advised by his doctor to rest his voice and not fly until further notice.
