RA Scion of Victor ShadeAs we mentioned earlier, 2 p.m. tomorrow marks the kickoff of our annual arts blowout Artopia in Georgetown. There’s going to be great art and plenty of good music thanks to the simultaneous Georgetown Music Festival–you can download the schedule here–which includes some of the city’s best hip-hop performers among the ranks. Some favorites:Fatal Lucciauno — 5 p.m. on the Rainier Stage: A major part of the Sportn’ Life roster and battle-hardened corner emcee, Fatal is one of Seattle’s best rappers. Using hip-hop as a path to salvation, his street history and violent past mesh with an undeniable intelligence to make him what his label CEO DeVon Manier calls an “intelligent hoodlum.”State of the Artist — 6 p.m. on the Rainier Stage: Hailing from the north, south and west of Seattle, State of the Artist, aka the SOTA Boys, have shared stages with the likes of Gym Class Heroes, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. They’re also responsible for something called “SeattleCaliFragalisticExtraHellaDopeness” that’s just as fantastic as it sounds.Victor Shade — 9 p.m. on the Georgetown Brewing Stage: As I wrote in “No Superhero” this duo of RA Scion and MTK hasn’t discovered any actual superpowers–but that’s not to say they can’t relate to the identity crises masked vigilantes experience. Based on the alter-ego of Marvel Comics character The Vision, their project takes on an earnest and aggressive sound to match its subject matter. You also have a chance to see Dark Time Sunshine (8 p.m. on the Georgetown Brewing Stage) and Brothers From Another (4 p.m. on the Georgetown Brewing Stage) in order to satisfy your local hip-hop craving.
