On Saturday, the third annual Summit Block Party brought neighbors, friends, and anyone else wandering the Capitol Hill ‘hood together to enjoy hot dogs, skateboard, cheap beer, and tons of FREE music by an eclectic group of bands. It was an occasion that should happen more often.With wide open entrances on Summit Avenue between East Olive Way and Howell Street, the party was casual and informal, and offered a range of cool tunes from a number of up-and-coming groups. One act that many likely came to see was headlining band the Pharmacy who recently announced that after 12 years, the day’s show would be their last.The best thing about Summit Block Party, however, was how community focused and intimate it was. All ages are welcome, which can be rare for Seattle music shows, and the rest of the day was filled with many of the great weirdos who actually live in Capitol Hill.
