Les Paul, guitarist, inventor of the solid body electric guitar, recording studio innovator (he invented multitracking, for one), and inspiration for one of GIbson’s most famous and well-loved guitars, died today of pneumonia at 94 years old. His innovations changed the way music (and not just guitar music, either) is played, recorded and heard, and today, we all lost one of the 20th century’s most important musical innovators.
