Layering ambient tones with sporadic and oft-times maddening noise samples, Oneohtrix Point Never embodies the popular perception of “experimental music.” But it’s an immersive experience you can’t understand unless you let go of those perceptions and step into the group’s ethereal, ponderous world. The Portland act’s last release was inspired by a wide array of unconventional thoughts: tarot, astrology, and the universe at large.
