Krist Novoselic is a regular contributor to Reverb. His column on music and politics runs every Tuesday on the Daily Weekly. We’re so lucky to have an artist like Bjork be alive today. Not only is she a vocalist with tons of natural talent, she blazes new trails with music. It’s been twenty years since I first heard that strong and dynamic voice on the Icelandic band The Sugarcubes Life’s Too Good.I’ve been listening to Voltaic – Bjorks new live record. It’s not “live” — as in front of an audience — the band went into Olympic Studios right before their appearance at Glastonbury in 2007 to record their set. There’s a cool version of “Hunter” from 1997’s Homogenic. “Army of Me” from Post is great, along with songs from her last release Volta. If you love Bjork, you probably own this. If you like Bjork, I say get this work because it’s a nice document of the artist’s music up to Volta but with a fresh twist.Voltaic is some good vinyl and like many modern wax releases, it comes with a compact disc.
