It’s the first day of October, and that means, if you haven’t already, it’s time to start thinking about your Halloween costume. I know that deciding on the perfect costume can be difficult, so throughout the month I’m going to help you out with some ideas. My first suggestion is for people who don’t mind walking around with a bulky round object on their heads all night. It might be awkward to dance with this thing, but Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known as the ultra-cool Toronto DJ Deadmau5 does it every night and looks amazing, so I think you can too. Deadmau5’s traditional Mau5head is bright red, but he’s been branching out to different colors, like the glittery disco-ball one he wore to the MTV VMA’s this year and my personal favorite, as seen above, sparkly with x-ed out eyes.If you’re wondering where you can find a sample of this magnificent mouse head, fear not, I have the answer after the jump. You’ll need a plastic hamster ball. The DIY blog instructables.com has brilliantly provided step-by-step instructions on how to make your own Deadmau5 Mau5head. Click here to get them. It requires a lot of materials but the the finished product is amazing. If anyone actually does make this, please send me a photo, and I will think you are the coolest person in the world. As a bonus, if you can do your handiwork quick enough, you can also wear it to Deadmau5’s October 13 show at the Paramount Theatre.
