In an effort to promote shelter pet adoption and raise awareness of the thousands of dogs and cats that are euthanized in shelters everyday, Moby released this lyric video featuring a parade of precious, adoptable dogs and cats at a L.A. shelter. ‘Course we all know the musician and animals rights activist always has animals on the brain, but you have to wonder if the inspiration for “Almost Home,” the Damien Jurado-featured track from Moby’s latest album
Innocents
, was recorded with a video project like this in mind, as he holds up cue-looking cards with lyrics like “the ground is hard” while posing next to a dog or kitty (sometimes offering his bald dome up for their sniffing pleasure). It’s a sweet little vid, and those pets are so awwwwwwwwwwwwww!
On a related note, for every “like” PetSafe’s Facebook page receives between now and December 31, the pet product company will donate one toy—up to 1,000—to a pet at Seattle Animal Shelter. Although for a needy pet, toys are nothing next to a loving home. If you’re looking for a new best friend, Moby says, “I hope you’re able to provide a home for a dog or cat (or gerbil or snake or any other shelter animal) this season.” And from all of us at Seattle Weekly, Happy Holidays and Meowy Christmas!
