If you want to get to know a band, don’t ask “What’s your preshow ritual?” Instead, take them out on a lake in a goddamn hot-tub boat. That’s exactly the premise of Hangin Tuff, a wacky music variety show hosted by DJ Bobbi Rich, who during one episode deftly unearthed Jarv Dee’s past as a tap dancer. The glory days of smart and funny MTV shows like Headbanger’s Ball and Yo! MTV Raps may be gone, but thanks to Hangin Tuff, getting to know local musicians in 2014 felt a hell of a lot like 1994—in the best way possible. facebook.com/hangintuffmusicshow
