Bellingham thrash metal trio Dog Shredder released the first track from their upcoming EP Brass Tactics yesterday via Pitchfork, called “Battle Toads.” The release comes two years after their succulent two-song EP, Boss Rhino (anchored by a seriously boss Yes cover).”Battle Toads” takes their muscular, intricately crafted racket to its natural end, with a brilliantly twisted structure and explosive acoustics. Noah Burns’ drumming jumps out immediately with its technicality, and the combined onslaught of Josh Holland’s guitar and Jeff Johnson’s bass make the track a big time win. Listen to “Battle Toads” here, and begin the countdown to Brass Tactics.
