As if there wasn’t enough going on already, I’m tempted to make the trek north to see Seattle guitar vets Ben London (Sanford Arms, Burning Rivers, a.k.a., DJ AOR) and Andrew McKeag (Shuggie, the Presidents of the U.S.A., a.k.a., DJ Aw Who Cares) spin records out at legendary dive Darrell’s on Aurora. Check out Mike Seely’s thoughts on Darrell’s over here; DJ sets start at 9 p.m. (free). Sayeth Mr. London:”Come start your holiday weekend off right at Darrell’s..you’ll be cast back in time as we play the best rock cuts from the ’70s-’80s. Put on your Union Jack sleeveless t-shirt, your parachute pants and break out the hairspray to get your mall bangs in full effect. If all goes well you can split your time between Darrell’s and the parking lot at the Jack in the Box so it really feels like a Friday night in 1983.If the music was not enough there will be $2 pints of Hamm’s all night long. If it makes you feel better, you can pretend your older brother’s friend bought it for you.”
