A bill that would clarify state law, and lift the requirement for clubs and bars to charge full retail sales tax on tickets and cover charges that provide an “opportunity” to dance, is a step closer to a floor vote. SB 5613 — sponsored by Sen. Ed Murray (D) — is expected to be scheduled for a floor vote soon. An aide to Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles (D), who is a co-sponsor of the bill, said the bill would be scheduled for a floor vote at the next rules committee meeting.
