Valley Cities’ smallest clinic offers big benefits

Explore the comprehensive services offered from an intimate setting at Pike Place Clinic

Sometimes, the most amazing opportunities come in smaller packages.

Just ask Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care, a leading community provider of mental health and addiction services, known for delivering compassionate, research-based care to the most vulnerable members of the community.

The Pike Place clinic, centrally located in Pike Place Market, is one of the smaller facilities in the Valley Cities network, with a primary focus on mental health services. Clinic Manager Ashley Ellerson, LICSW, MHP, SUDPT, notes that the more intimate setting helps them build strong, personal relationships with clients.

“The smaller footprint and unique central location of our clinic allow us to cultivate close relationships with our clients. In fact, it’s quite common for our clients to pop in regularly outside of their scheduled appointments just to say ‘Hi,’” Ellerson says.

At the same time, the clinic’s distinctive location can sometimes make it challenging for new clients to find them, she acknowledges.

“The entrance to our clinic is located at 1537 Western Ave. and we’re situated directly above the food bank, next door to a local daycare and the Heritage House Senior Centre. We’re also adjacent to Pike Market Commons, a local resource centre.”

Services and programs currently available at the Valley Cities Pike Place Clinic include:

Mental Health Services

  • Counseling and therapy
  • Psychiatric services
  • Case management
  • Group counseling services (coming soon)

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Services

  • SUD referrals: While Valley Cities Pike Place does not offer SUD services they do refer clients to other Valley Cities locations that do, including those most conveniently located to the client. Often clients are referred to the Meridian location due to its proximity to Pike Place.
  • MATCH services are available at Pike Place on Wednesday afternoons, noon to 3 p.m.
