Hungry while waiting on line to get your green at Uncle Ike’s? Then look no further than Sam’s Moroccan Sandwich Shop located at 23rd and Union in the Central District. What is a Moroccan sandwich you might ask? Well, one example would be the Melt Tuna de Mer – have a guess. Other fare includes the ubiquitous shawarma, falafel wraps, Marrekech Meatballs and several salads. Owner Hisham ‘Sam’ Habchi is the hardest working man in the sandwich business while also moonlighting as an Uber driver. Support a small business, eat some Moroccan food, stave off the munchies and check out the CD while you’re at it.
Food and Sh*t throws down a ‘Big Ass Filipino Party Dinner’ tonight at Inay’s Asian Pacific Cuisine on Beacon Hill. Aside from the standards like lumpia and pancit – this event features the glorious Lechon in all of it’s otherworldly porky goodness. As for the reason for this celebration, their site says it best: “With October being Filipino American History Month, and with police brutality still running rampant, we’ve decided it was high time we roast some pig.” I couldn’t have written it better myself. Food and Sh*t will also roast some pig next Monday the 27th at their All Hallow’s Eve event at Grub. Both events feature guest Chef Garrett Doherty of Kraken Congee. Get some.

Which is why on this upcoming Saturday, October 25th you can head to 21 Acres in Woodinville to celebrate yet another Hallmark holiday – national ‘Food Day’. For $30 you can walk the farm, harvest fresh, organic produce and then turn it into lunch. This is also the ‘101 class’ which is followed by the November 8th Hard Cider Making class which is sure to be well attended by cider loving hipsters. On a separate note, there are now only 26 days of the year left that aren’t some kind of national ‘holiday’…
If you are one of the 17 people in Seattle still without Halloween plans then check out the Frolik Yelloween Ball. What exactly is a Yelloween Ball one might ask? Good question. It’s an event co-sponsored by the famously yellow labeled Veuve Clicquot champagne house. Yes, there will be the requisite costume contest and prizes and whatnot. But there will also be champagne flowing, a rooftop deck party at the Motif complete with Big Band-era music and festive Frolik! food for the occasion.
