Your Daily Dose of Food News, Events and Must-Read Miscellany
We start this week’s food news off with something that truly everyone can be happy about: cannabis cookies. Yes, Jody Hall aka the owner of Cupcake Royale has started a new outfit called The Goodship Company which will be bringing us edibles and happiness. The Capitol Hill Blog reports that two types of cookies – sea salt chocolate chip and Saigon cinnamon snickerdoodle will be available at 10 I-502 retailers around the state. So take a bite or two and ride, Captain ride, on your mystery ship!
The Ballard brewery scene is bubbling up and Stoup Brewing is teaming with Chippy’s on March 26th for the restaurant’s second brewers night. Stoup drafts are just $1 with any food order making this a potentially dangerous evening of overindulgence of fish, chips and brewskis. There will also be a version of Chippy’s beer-battered fish made with Stoup IPA as well as other beer inflected dishes such as the ice cream float with Stoup’s Porter.
Kessler’s Sports Bar opened yesterday bringing another entry into the genre on the Hill. The Capitol Hill Blog reports that Kessler’s has opened in the former Tommy Gun’s space on Olive Way just in time to capitalize on the biggest annual gambling event of the year – March Madness. So, there will no doubt be bracket posters and multiple mentions of prime time players over the next several weeks while happy ballers imbibe Rainier beer and $4 shots of Fireball. Oh, and Kessler’s is running their very own free bracket where the winner scores two tickets to Hawaii. And don’t ask for a Pina Colada or a Mai Tai; you’ll not find blenders or juicers in this bar. It’s beer, ball and booze. Plain and simple.
