Spring is nearly here and Seattle kicks off March in style with multiple food and beverage opportunities including Dine Around Seattle and Washington Wine Month. To celebrate the latter, Ray’s Boathouse is offering 30 wines by the glass and they will be kicking off a month of Winemaker dinners by hosting Woodward Canyon’s Rick and Darcey Small on Saturday March 7th. This one-night-only event will start at 6:30 p.m. and will feature a five course dinner from Chef Paul Duncan with dishes such as Yellow Fin Tuna seared rare with sugar snap peas, spring onions and Uli’s chorizo as well as Spice Rubbed Lamb Chops with roasted beets, Laura Chenel’s goat cheese and demi glace. Seats are $95/pp and reservations can be made by calling 206.789.3770.
If you use social media then you may have seen a story or two flash by about the photos of school lunches around the world. And while it’s interesting to note that student meals look far better in most countries vs. the US; it’s also worth pointing out that the photos are not of actual school lunches. Rather, they are representations of what a lunch might look like as prepared by Sweetgreen, a restaurant chain in the Northeastern US. Fans of Andrew Friedman’s Liberty on 15th Ave in Capitol Hill will be happy to learn that his latest watering hole has now opened at 1720 E Olive Way. Good Citizen is now bringing expertly crafted cocktails to denizens of the Hill and hopes to follow in the footsteps of its sister bar. No word yet on whether sushi will be served Liberty-style but regardless – it’s all about that booze, ‘bout that booze, no tuna…
