In another stroke of genius, a holiday has been created to, drumroll please, honor eating pickles. Oh joy – I can imagine all the folks with sour palates looking forward to November 14th. And one of our own hometown picklers is ready to roll out the barrel – Whidbey Island’s Britt’s Pickles. CFO (Chief Fermentation Officer) Trap Landry will present free demos on home fermentation at Pike’s Market on both the 14th and 15th at Noon. Check it out.
And if you are in the south sound, you can honor the veritable pickle as well on Friday the 14th. Lynnae’s Gourmet Pickles (as seen on Shark Tank) in Tacoma will be hosting it’s 3rd Annual Pickle Day Hunt (yes, the third) which will be run through social media as clues will be provided via their Facebook page and Twitter account. Avid hunters can spend the day looking for pickles in Tacoma and then raise a glass in victory or defeat at The Harmon Tap Room from 5-7.
In non-pickle related news, fans of La Bete and Aleks Dimitrijevich will be happy to learn that the Bellevue Ave. space will be re-opening on November 11th as Spaghetti Western which will serve BBQ classics out of its custom meat smoker in addition to the standard sides such as slaw, collards and potato salad. In an interesting culinary twist, Dimitrijevich will also offer up several types of spaghetti and lasagna Bolognese. We’ll make the first request asking for wet naps and bibs at every table please.
