Your Daily Dose of Food News, Events and Must-Read Miscellany
If you are serious about your food and want to have an experience to remember then head to Il Corvo where Chef Mike Easton teams up with Miles James (formerly of the beloved Dot’s Delicatessen) on the 31st. There will be four seatings beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the last starting at 9:30 p.m. The prix fixe event will be a four course feast comprised of our favorite treats from the sea, sky and land and will include champagne and wine pairings for each course. Prices range from $132 to $142 depending on the seating time and tickets are available for the event at Brownpapertickets.com. The menu also carries my favorite tagline of the year: If you have any food allergies, severe dislikes or intolerances, please feel free to seek reservations at any of Seattle’s other fantastic restaurants. Word.
In sad news, the Capitol Hill Blog reports that the Central District stalwart Philadelphie Fevre has shuttered its doors. Located at the intersection of 23rd and Madison for the past 31 years, it was one of the only authentic Philly cheesesteak shops in town. Fortunately, those of us craving that delectable gut bomb that is a cheesesteak can still head down to the sister shop Philly Fever Restaurant and Bar on 3rd St. in Renton to get our fix. No word on if or when a new Seattle location will open.
And we’re continuing with yet another NYE dinner – this time at Eric and Sophie Banh’s Monsoon on Seattle’s Capitol Hill. They’re offering a three course menu of Vietnamese classics such as Lobster Bisque Congee, roasted shiitake, truffle oil, Braised Painted Hills Short Ribs, lemongrass, baby carrot, hominy and pastry Chef Roger Martinho’s “Double Happiness” fried pastry, Valrhona chocolate, vanilla cream. Dinner is $48/pp and reservations can be made by calling 206.325.2111.
